In Case of Evacuation

  1. In an emergency evacuation, citizens of Raleigh County will be notified and given instruction by the Raleigh County and Boone County Sheriff's Departments. Notification will be given personally or by loudspeaker or bullhorn, or other means deemed necessary by the OES.
  2. The Office of Emergency Services will be the agency in charge once evacuation procedures have begun.
  3. Citizens should report to the following locations based on the evacuation zones:
      a. Zone 1 will report to Marsh Fork School
      b. Zone 2 will report to Clear Fork District Elementary School
      c. Zone 3 will report to Sherman Elementary School
  4. Transportation will be provided to those evacuees who are in need of it. This will be the responsibility of the Raleigh County Office of Emergency Services and Sheriff's Department and the Boone County Office of Emergency Services and Sheriff's Department.

Actions and Responsibilities of First Responders in Case of Evacuation

  1. Notification of downstream persons.
  2. Transportation of evacuees with priority to the infirm or disabled.
  3. Establish command post at Marsh Fork High School for directing emergency operations, all cooperating agencies and coordinate efforts.
  4. Setup roadblocks to prevent unauthorized access.
  5. Establish evacuation center at Marsh Fork School (Zone 1), Clear Fork District Elementary School (Zone 2), and Sherman Elementary School (Zone 3).
  6. Team leaders will be established for each zone. The Raleigh County Office of Emergency Services and Boone County Office of Emergency Services will assign these team leaders.
  7. The Raleigh County Sheriff's Department shall have charge of evacuation centers #1 and #2 and Boone County Sheriff's Departments shall have charge of evacuation center #3 to ensure that all evacuees have registered and that all inquiries directed to the center shall be cared for. The Red Cross shall control evacuation centers after they are established.
